Reps sweep Bitterroot in offensive onslaught

The Helena Reps swept the Bitterroot Bucs 10-7 and 18-8 on Saturday, May 30 in Helena.

The Reps pulled out the win thanks to a strong sixth inning. Scored Talon Burchard and gave Helena Reps the lead for good.

Talon Burchard and Ryan Arntson led Helena Reps’ offensive threat, as Burchard was 3-4 and Arntson was 2-4, each with doubles. Caleb Jackson also double and scored three times.

Brett Jacobs had a solid outing on the mound in his first start with the Reps, giving up only 2 earned runs and striking out four. Tanner McMahon got the win in relief, allowing one run on three hits over three innings.

In game 2, the pitchers from both sides had a tough day as the two teams put up 26 runs combined in a 18-8 Reps win. The teams banged out 16 hits hits between them, as well as three for extra bases.

Ten runs in the opening three innings allowed the Reps to jump out to an early lead. A sacrifice fly by Talon Burchard, a groundout by Austin Whitehouse, and an RBI single by Colin Sassano during the first inning and an error, a two-run single by Robert McCarvel, and a two-run single by Sassano in the second inning helped Helena put some runs on the board early. In the third, the Reps scored on a back-to-back RBI doubles by Eamonn Byrne and an RBI double by Burchard.

McCarvel, Sassano, Burchard, and Schneider each had two hits in the game, and Burchard racked up three RBI for Helena.

Max Nielsen recorded the win for the Reps. He allowed three runs on two hits over three innings.
