The Helena Senators swept the Class A Gallatin Valley Outlaws 8-3 and 10-4 during a Sunday doubleheader at Kindrick Legion Field.
Helena’s Riley Pickens and Jack Shevalier were the winning pitchers in the two games respectively.
“Our pitchers did a nice job today. We used seven pitchers in the two ball games and they all threw strikes and gave us a chance to play defense,” said coach Dave Thennis, whose Senators improved to 15-6 on the season.
Nick Wrigg finished the day going 5 for 8 at the plate, with six RBIs and six runs scored. Teammates with two hits apiece were Henry Bowers (two RBIs), Koby Griffin, Danny Burton and Payton Pappas.
“In game one we strung together some good at bats,” Thennis added. “In game two we took advantage of some walks. We didn’t have as many hits but they came at the right time. Nick Wrigg had two big ones, including a grand slam homer and a two run double.”
