The Helena Reps roughed up the Anaconda A’s 21-4 and 14-2 to open their Class A Southern District Conference schedule on Sunday, pounding out 28 hits over the two games.
In game one, Conor McCarvel hit three doubles and drove in three, Matt Krieger added three hits and two RBI, Ty McGurran drove in five RBI with a pair of hits, and Grady Koenig and Keanan Horne (3 RBI) each contributed a pair of base-knocks.
Ryan Barrett went the distance on the mound for Helena, only giving up one earned run over six innings for the win.
In game two, the Reps jumped on the A’s with a 10-run top of the first and never looked back in the shortened game. The top of the order again pummeled Anaconda pitching as McGurran (3 hits, 3 RBI, 3 runs), Krieger (2 hits, 3 runs), McCarvel (2 hits) and Kadyn Craigle (3 hits, 4 RBI) led the way offensively.
Hunter Sickerson pitched a complete game victory for Helena, giving up one earned run on four hits over five innings.
The pair of victories gives Coach Jon Burnett’s club a 2-0 start on the conference schedule and a 10-1 overall record. The Reps host Gallatin Valley on Wednesday at 5:30pm at Kindrick Legion Field for a pair of conference games and then head to Missoula from May 26-29 for the Mavs’ Memorial Day Tournament.
