The Helena Reps split their final two games at the American Legion Baseball Missoula Memorial Day Tournament, falling 7-1 to the Bitterroot Bucs on Sunday before bouncing back to defeat the Great Falls Chargers 13-6.
On Sunday, the Reps were only able to muster two hits (doubles from Kadyn Craigle and Brady Anderson) and struck out 10 times against Bitterroot pitching in their 7-1 loss. Riley Chisholm, Dylan Steinmetz, and Ty McGurran handled the pitching duties for Helena, with Chisholm getting the loss.
On a positive note, Steinmetz made his season debut for the Reps on Sunday and was electric, going 2.0 innings of no-hit work with a strikeout. He had previously been hampered with injuries and looks to be a plus for Coach Jon Burnett’s pitching staff.
Monday was a completely different story for Helena, as the Reps poured in 13 runs on 14 hits against Great Falls in their 13-6 victory, with Chisholm, Craigle (2 doubles), Grady Koenig (2 doubles, 4 RBI), Matt Krieger, Keanan Horne (triple), and Brady Grigsby (3 RBI) all contributing multi-hit games.
Walter Evans (2.2 innings) started the game for the Reps on the mound with Anderson (2.1) and Zach Spiroff (2.0) finishing the game. The relievers gave up one hit between them in their excellent outings, and Anderson was awarded with the win.
The Reps are now 15-3 on the season.
