The Helena Reps split a pair of Class A Southern Conference games with the Bozeman Bucks on Thursday, dropping the first game 9-5 before bouncing back with a resounding 13-4 victory.
In game one, the Reps were unable to slow down the Bucks’ Jhett Johnson, who was 4-4 with 3 doubles. Ryan Barrett went 5 2/3 innings on the mound, giving up 5 runs on 8 hits in the loss, while Walter Evans pitched the final 1/3 of an inning. Helena had four players with multi-hit games (Riley Chisholm, Brady Anderson, Hunter Sickerson, and Matt Krieger), but were unable to string together the necessary hits to score timely runs.
Game two was a different story for the Reps, as the team exploded for 13 runs on 11 hits, 12 of those runs in the final three frames. Ty McGurran, Zach Spiroff, Anderson, and Chisholm all had multi-hit games, and Chisholm was especially explosive at the plate with 3 hits, 3 runs scored, 4 RBI and a double.
Dylan Steinmetz was effective on the mound, giving up no earned runs on two hits over four innings, striking out four. Sickerson picked up the save over the final three innings, giving up no earned runs on three hits, striking out three.
Coach Jon Burnett‘s Reps move to 7-1 in conference and 22-5 overall. Helena next heads to Livingston to take on Saturday in a pair of conference games against the Braves.
