The Helena Reps split a doubleheader with the Anaconda A’s 10-9 and 10-0 on June 1 at Kindrick Legion Field.
In game one, the Reps fell behind 7-0 but roared back with 6 runs. An RBI triple by Ray Moore, an RBI single by Seth Schneider, and a three-run double by Ryan Arntson set off Helena’s rally.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Reps faced just a 8-6 deficit. An RBI double by Austin Whitehouse and a sacrifice fly by Carter Wald tied the game at 8. Unfortunately, the Reps were unable to move ahead, and the A’s scored two more in the top of the seventh. Moore hit a sacrifice fly to cut the lead to one in the bottom of the inning, and after another double by Whitehouse, Robert McCarvel flew out to deep left to end the game.
The Reps pitching staff walked 10 and the defense committed 6 errors in the game.
Austin Whitehouse had a busy day at the plate, going 3-4 with two doubles. Arntson, Moore and Colin Sassano each collected two hits each.
In game two, the Reps jumped out to an early lead on Anaconda and captured a 10-0 victory.
Behind eight runs in the first three innings, pitcher Tanner McMahon went the distance in the five inning game, pitching a shutout on three hits, one walk, and six strikeouts.
Wald, Arntson, Sassano, and Eamonn Byrne paced the hitting attack at the plate with two hits a piece. Schneider and Isaiah Meza each collected 2 RBI.
The Reps were able to bounce back defensively as well, committing no errors in game two.
