The Helena Reps went a perfect 4-0 over the weekend, sweeping a pair of Class A Southern District Conference games from the Livingston Braves on Saturday, 12-5 and 13-0, and the Anaconda A’s on Sunday, 5-0 and 15-2.
On Saturday in Livingston, Ty McGurran led the offensive charge for the Reps in game one, going a perfect 3-3 at the plate with two walks, scoring three times and driving in four RBI. Brady Anderson chipped in with a pair of base knocks and Matt Krieger drove in two, as Riley Chisholm picked up the victory on the mound.
In game two against the Braves, Walter Evans was dominant on the mound, only allowing two hits over five innings on only 54 pitches in the complete game shutout. Krieger picked up three hits in the game, including a triple, scored four times and drove in two. Jacob Howell and Brady Grigsby each had a pair of RBI as well, as the Reps cruised to a 13-0 victory aided by seven Braves errors.
On Sunday, Krieger continued his superb weekend, this time on the mound, allowing only two A’s hits over seven innings for the win. Kadyn Craigle (three doubles, two RBI) and Grady Koenig (two doubles) carried the offense in the 5-0 shutout victory.
In game two, the dominant Helena pitching continued as Hunter Sickerson picked up the win for the Reps, giving up two runs over three innings before being removed due to Helena’s 14-run lead after the third. Zach Spiroff pitched the final two shutout frames, giving up a lone single. Grigsby and Howell each hit a double and totaled two hits to lead the Reps at the plate.
The weekend sweeps moves Coach Jon Burnett’s Reps to 11-1 in conference, sitting a half game behind the 12-0 Belgrade Bandits. Helena sits at 26-5 overall and next heads to the Howard Rein Memorial Class A Tournament in Bozeman on June 22-25.
