The Helena Reps swept both games on day one at the Mariners Firecracker Tournament in Polson, Mont. on Thursday, running away with victories over the Kootenai Valley Rangers (13-2) and the Libby Loggers (13-8).
In game one, Brett Jacobs was stellar on the mound, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits, striking out 10 and walking none in the win. Andrew Rosston struck out the side in a perfect 6th inning.
Carter Wald and Isaiah Mesa paced the Reps offence, each with 2 hit games. Wald score 3 runs while Mesa drove in 3, and the Reps as a team drew 10 walks, with Colin Sassano and Talon Burchard each with 3.
In game 2, the Reps pounded out 13 runs on 13 hits, with Talon Burchard (4 RBIs) and Ray Moore (3 RBIs) each collecting 3 hits. Robert McCarvel and Ryan Arntson also contributed with 2 hits a piece.
Tanner McMahon earned the win on mound, giving up 5 earned runs on 4 hits. Max Nielson pitched the final 2 innings, giving up 2 earned runs on 4 hits.
The Reps next play the Dillon Cubs on Friday at 2 p.m in Polson, The win moves the Reps’ record to 26-10.
