Sassano leads Reps in sweep of Butte

Colin Sassano continued his hot streak at the plate on Thursday as the Helena Reps swept the Butte Muckers 6-5 and 11-1 on a windy, overcast day in Butte.

In game one, Sassano (double) and Robert McCarvel were 3-4, Tanner McMahon was 2-3, and Carter Wald scored 2 runs on the way to Reps’ victory.

Reps’ pitcher Tristan Siegers finally got the run support he was looking for on his way to the win. Siegers allowed two earned runs on four hits in 4.0 innings, striking out four. Kellan Elder pitched two terrific innings of relief, and Brett Jacobs pitched a perfect seventh inning for the save.

In game two, Sassano hit two more doubles, drove in three runs, and scored two runs on his way to another 3-4 game. Ray Moore, Jr. was also 3-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored, and Talon Burchard scored two runs and drove in two as Helena ran away from the Muckers in five innings.

Caleb Jackson twirled another complete game gem for the Reps, only allowing one run on five hits and striking out three on his way to the win.

Helena’s record now stands at 35-13 on the year. They next take on the Gallatin Valley Outlaws (doubleheader) in Three Forks on Saturday and the Anaconda A’s (doubleheader) in Anaconda on Sunday.
