The Helena Senators dropped their final two games of the regular season in a Class AA Legion doubleheader in Bozeman, 14-10 and 6-3.

The losses left the Senators with a 33-28 overall record and a 7-15 mark in conference play.

In the opener, Bozeman jumped out in front 12-2 after three innings before Helena battled back to get within two, 12-10, heading into the sixth. But the Bucks were able to hold the Senators at bay over the final two frames, while adding a couple insurance runs of their own in the sixth.

The Senators banged out 12 hits in the loss, led by Nick Wrigg who went 2 for 4, with a double and a triple, and three RBIs.

Jackson Thennis was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, and Danny Burton also drove in a pair of runs. Reilly Leary and Carter Pappas chipped in with two base knocks each.

Helena starter Koby Griffin took the loss.

In the nightcap, the Bucks again led all the way, going in front 6-0 after three stanzas and then holding on for the three-run win.

The Senators were held to three singles, by Kienan Stief, Payton Pappas (RBI) and Ryan Dorvall.

Riley Pickens started on the bump and was hung with the loss. Reliever Carter Pappas pitched the final three scoreless innings, allowing four hits and no walks, while striking out four.

Coach Dave Thennis’ Senators will next see action beginning on Wednesday, as they host the Class AA Alberta-Montana State Tournament at Kindrick Legion Field.
