The Helena Senators used a 3-run sixth inning to vault past the Glacier Twins 6-4, ending their play in Missoula’s Memorial Day Class AA Legion Tournament with a win.
The Senators went 2-2 in the tourney, and improve to 13-6 on the year.
Helena outhit the Twins 9-7, led by Jackson Thennis, who went 1 for 3 with a double and two runs batted in, and Payton Pappas, who ripped a double and a triple and scored a run. Kienan Stief, Chase Rook and Jackson Maynard each chipped in with an RBI apiece. Nick Wrigg was 1-3, scored twice and stole a pair of bases.
Ryan Dorvall started on the hill for the Senators and worked five innings, tossing a 5-hitter. Relievers Henry Bowers and Danny Burton got the win and the save, respectively.
“It was a scrappy weekend,” Helena coach Dave Thennis said. “We struggled to score runs but are showing flashes of recovery. Ryan, Henry and Danny pitched a gritty ballgame, and Chase Rook had a big hit for us.”
