Helena split a pair of conference games with Deer Lodge on Saturday at Kindrick Legion Field, with the Wranglers winning the first game 6-3 and the Reps coming out on top in game two.
In game one, after singles by Colin Sassano and Ray Moore, Carter Wald scored on a wild pitch to knot the game at one in the bottom of the first, but the Reps were unable to come any closer as Deer Lodge pulled away on clutch hitting by the Wranglers, who were lead on a 3-3 performance by Logan Danforth. Danforth hit two doubles off Reps pitcher Tanner McMahon, who was saddled with the loss, giving up 4 earned runs on 11 hits over 5 innings.
Offensively for the Reps, Moore, Austin Whitehouse, and Kellen Elder (double) each had 2 hit games, while Wald and Robert McCarvel each hit a double.
Max Nielson came on to pitch two scoreless innings, only allowing 2 hits.
In game two, the story of the game was the pitching of Brett Jacobs, who struck out six, paving the way for a Helena Reps win. Jacobs allowed one earned run on three hits and one walk, pitching a complete game for Helena.
The Reps went up for good in the first, scoring McMahon on a sacrifice fly by Moore. Helena then pushed across two runs in both the second on a groundout by Elder, scoring Whitehouse, and a double by McMahon, scoring Andrew Rosston.
Helena Reps piled on two more runs in the bottom of the fourth. A sacrifice fly by McMahon scored Isaiah Meza to start the scoring in the inning.
McMahon was 2-3 with 2 doubles, a sac fly, and 2 RBIs in the game, and Whitehouse had another 2 hit game as well.
