HELENA — Carter Perlinski is heating up with the weather. The Helena Senators’ (28-12, 9-2 conference) power-hitting first baseman collected a pair of two-hit games Saturday, his second and third consecutive, in 8-3 and 9-6 Montana/Alberta American Legion Baseball Conference victories over Lethbridge.

Perlinski stroked his fifth homer of the season in Game 1, an inside-the-parker that split colliding outfielders and rolled to the wall in the right-center field gap. Lethbridge’s center field left the game with an injury.

Perlinski narrowly missed a conventional home run in Game 2, yanking a ball some 350 feet foul down the right field line.

Tizer Lindgren, a rising senior at Helena Capital, made his Class AA conference debut in Game 2 Saturday.

A defense-first catcher, Lindgren threw out 10 would-be base-stealers as a Helena Rep (Class A) before a Cole Graham hamstring injury prompted his promotion.

In six Class AA games entering play, Lindgren hosed four potential base-stealers at a 44% caught-stealing rate.

Lindgren tripled his varsity RBI total with one second-inning swing Saturday. He fouled off two pitches and singled up the middle in a 1-2 count, giving Helena a short-lived 3-2 advantage.

“I had to score them there,” Lindgren said. “Two guys on, I had to at least get one of them. It was a good little battle.”
