HELENA — Walker DesRosier, in the midst of a potentially top-5 greatest regular-season in Helena Senators program history, lined a go-ahead RBI single to the left of Billings’ drawn-in shortstop, lifting Helena to Wednesday’s series sweep-clinching 11-10 victory over the Scarlets.
The triumph, a welcomed 11th wedding anniversary gift for head coach Jon Burnett and wife Jennifer, propelled Helena (30-18, 10-3 conference) to sole possession of first place in Montana-Alberta Class AA American Legion Baseball standings with 11 regular-season league games to play.
“Nobody else we’d want up in that situation other than Walker,” Burnett said. “The year he’s having, the way he’s swinging the bat…
“Thought he got a little lift-happy on a couple after that first-inning triple, but it was a good approach to drive that ball and stay on top of it.”
DesRosier’s 70th knock of the season, tying his 2024 output, solidified a 25th multi-hit contest following a first-inning triple that ignited a nine-run Senators frame.
